Tahiti 2027 launched the first edition of the Pacific Digital Relay

The Organizing Committee of the Pacific Games – Tahiti 2027 held the very first edition of the Pacific Digital Relay, a fully digital event designed to connect the 24 nations participating in the Pacific Games.

A digital journey across the Pacific

Organized on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the event took place on Monday, April 6, 2026, with a launch at 9 AM.

Designed as a true digital relay, the event offered a unique immersion into the participating countries. Each nation broadcast a video of around 30 minutes, showcasing the elements that shape its identity.

Through this content, the audience was able to discover :

  • athletes and their sports disciplines,
  • iconic landmarks,
  • cultural aspects, traditions, and heritage specific to each territory.

The videos followed one another based on a symbolic baton-passing principle, creating a moment of sharing and unity on a regional scale.

An initiative to bring nations closer ahead of the Games

As the Pacific Games approach, which French Polynesia will have the honor of hosting, this digital relay provided an original opportunity to better understand the people of the Pacific. It highlighted the ties that unite these nations while showcasing their unique characteristics, in a spirit of discovery and sharing.
